En vue de parfaire sa mission auprès de la population valaisanne, la BCVs a créé, à l’occasion de ses 75 ans, une fondation.
Ses buts? Récompenser des actions remarquables dans les domaines humanitaire ou social, culturel ou pour soutenir la jeunesse valaisanne.
Le capital de la Fondation, initialement doté de 500'000 francs a été augmenté à 750'000 francs en 2011, puis porté à un million en 2017, année du centième anniversaire de la Banque. Ce jubilé fut également l’occasion de la rebaptiser «Fondation du 100e». En 2023, le capital de la Fondation s'est encore renforcé pour atteindre 1,5 million de francs. Le rendement de ce capital sert, chaque année, à déterminer le montant distribué à travers ces deux différents prix.
Le Conseil de Fondation détermine, chaque automne, les récipiendaires sur la base des candidatures reçues au 15 septembre.
